Exploratory Research

Measured value Others
Animal species Others
Indication of the result The relative cell densities (%) against average cell densities of untreated control wells without infection (100 %) and untreated control wells with infection (0 %) were shown. Larger values indicate stronger anti-viral activity.
Target diseases of assay Infective disease
Assay level Cell-based
Protocol of assay 1) MDCK cells were seeded onto 96-well plates. 2) Next day, MDCK cells were infected with influenza virus, and Kampo extracts, medicinal plant extracts (100 μg/mL), or compounds (10 μM) were added. The culture plates were incubated for 2 days. 3) Cells were fixed with 70 % EtOH and stained with 0.5 % crystal violet. 4) After washing with tap water and air drying, cell density was measured by the absorbance at 560 nm.
