Inhibitory effect on cholesterol synthesis
Inhibitory effect on cholesterol synthesis

Exploratory Research

Measured value Inhibition (%)
Animal species Others
Indication of the result The rate of decrease (%) in the amount of cholesterol synthesis under test drug treatment against the control condition without test drug is shown. Larger values indicate stronger inhibitory effect on cholesterol synthesis.
Target diseases of assay Endcrine & Metabolic systems
Assay level Cell-based
Protocol of assay 1) HepG2 human hepatoma cells were cultivated in culture medium in the presence or absence of test drugs. 2) The cells were harvested and treated with methanol with KOH. Metabolites were extracted with n-hexane. 3) The metabolites in the extracts were derivatized and determined by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS).
