Remarks | ・Culture of secoisolariciresinol with two human intestinal bacterial strains END-2 and ARC-1 Each substrate (0.1 mM) of (+)- or (-)-secoisolariciresinol was anaerobically incubated with a mixture of strains END-2 and ARC-1 for 120 h, and then a portion (100 μl) was extracted with ethyl acetate, which was then evaporated in vacuo. The residue was dissolved in 0.3 ml of MeOH, filtered through a 0.45-μm membrane and a portion (10 μl) was analyzed by LC/MS. Substrate conversion was also confirmed by TLC. [Jin et al., Biol. Pharm.
